Basic Function
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for component and level design and build of new transformers, inductors and filters from the concept phase to the First Article build and supporting the first production run.

The Electrical Engineer reports to: Senior Electrical EngineeringThe Electrical Engineer interfaces with: Purchasing, Quality Control, Sales, customers and employees

Authority
The Electrical Engineer has the authority to:
- Create new designs for transformers, inductors, and filter assemblies.
- Generate customer specifications in the form of a datasheet detailing critical electrical and dimensional properties.
- Undertake small-signal electrical testing and, in some cases, loaded power testing to validate design work and verify the reliability of components and assemblies under load.
- Conduct development lab work on new technologies that will benefit the company.
- Interface with customers to assess their needs, develop new custom and standard products to meet these needs, and create design specifications.
- Review and release work instructions for prototype builds.
- Complete First Article documentation and inspect parts.
- Develop and document test procedures including fixturing, calibration and data download.
- Develop fixturing and tooling for parts production including poke yoke and electrical fixture testing.
- Enter completed training records into the employee files and update the training matrix.
- Order materials as required for new prototypes directly from the internet and other sources.
Responsibility
The Electrical Engineer has the responsibility to:
- Maintain complete and accurate files (final folders) of new designs, including customer specifications, test specifications, test results, build notes, and pictures at the initial design phase and the first article phase for inductive elements.
- Conceive new designs for transformers, inductors, and inductive filter elements that meet all customer requirements including electrical, thermal, safety, and mechanical requirements.
- Reply to all customer requests in a timely manner.
- Create accurate and complete specifications of new designs for customers and standard parts.
- Direct Purchasing to obtain the materials needed to produce new designs and request/purchase materials directly for new designs.
- Research new technology.
- Take the lead contact position with certain customers who are specifying, purchasing, and using new designs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Design the electrical elements on filter assemblies and magnetic components, including the bill of materials, Gerber files and schematics, cable and wiring, connectors, and complete BOM and build instructions for magnetic components.
- Specify capacitors, resistors, and other electronic components suitable for use in new designs.
- Maintain a goal of full compliance with customer requirements including materials, thermal performance, and reliability.
- Manage customer-facing projects, including designs, prototypes, failure analysis, and any other electrically related requests.
- Support the production floor upon request.
Minimum Requirements
- A four-year electrical engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience
- Familiarity with mechanical-electrical assemblies
- Experience dealing directly with customers.
- Electronics industry work

Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000
